They say the world is at “5 minutes to midnight”.
Do you still have hope for a bright future?
There are risks and costs to action.
But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.
John F. Kennedy
That to make something, one must feel something... that there is no
creation without a motive force, and that such forces should be
positive, or the results become twisted and strange.

Some people used to be dedicated to humanity. Caesar told me about
them. A religious person called Mother Teresa once dedicated her
life to the poor. The Dali Lama was another. There were others,
people without any fame, who dedicated their day to day activities
to seeing humanity rise. Not in the sense of conquering the world,
but in the sense of raising its own morality.
David Beers - The Singularity: Heretic (2014.11.16)
“How am I supposed to make a difference?
“The
richest wealth is wisdom. The strongest weapon is patience. The
best security is perseverance. The greatest tonic is laughter. All
of them are free.”
“The
youth of today is what will shape the direction of tomorrow, so
kindness to the future makes it a better future for all.”
“Every
civilization will come to a point where they adapt to changing
technology and learn to live with it, or they destroy themselves
with it. The ones who adapt typically go on to become star-spanning
civilizations. Those who do not have their ruins researched by
star-spanning civilizations.”

“Great
things happen when everyone does just one good thing every day. All
the little good things add up and they become one great big thing.
He says if everyone tried to do one good thing a day, that’d be
enough to change the world."

“Sharing
knowledge is the greatest of all callings. There's nothing
like it in the land."

“I’m scared too,” he said. Her
eyes went wide and she looked at him, baffled. “It’s good.
Keeps you sharp. Courage isn’t the absence of fear — it’s the
strength to keep going when you are scared."

"...this is the world we live in. And
justice does not always prevail. This
is not the wild west where you can clean up the streets with a gun. Even
though sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed."
Events
that might seem so simple can have profound impacts on us and
forever change, not just how other people think about us, but also
how we think about ourselves, and what we think about the world.

If
you knew that something bad was going to happen, and you had the
knowledge and/or skills to stop it, are you not morally obligated to
try to prevent it ?

Whatever
comes our way, whatever battle we have raging inside us, we always
have a choice. My friend
Harry taught me that. He
chose to be the best of himself.
It’s the choices that make us who we are, and we can always
choose to do what is right.

knowledge will only increase your understanding and, therefore, your
empathy.

“The
secret purpose of language is to change everything. And by
everything I mean, your life, the life of others, the planet, the
universe itself. Language is action, movement, life itself. It
initiates progress, evolution. Language creates. If I recall
correctly in one of your ancient Earth holy books, there’s the
notion that ‘in the beginning was the word.’ I think it’s a
beautiful metaphor. Because if you think about it, the world itself
is made up of metaphors— meaningful thought and image constructs."

Some
believe that the human race is fading, beyond salvation, not worth
saving. And that there is nothing to find beyond the stars. the search. I don't believe that. As long as there is one man
still out there, searching.
